Bettie Jean Pitts, 93, of Morgantown, died October 7, 2015 peacefully at home with her family surrounding her. She was born January 24, 1922 in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Eugene Dooms and Leiugania Richardson Dooms. She graduated from Monongalia High School and Mon County Vocational Technical Center where she obtained her LPN certification went on to practice nursing, retiring from Ruby Memorial Hospital in 1986.. Bettie was a life long member of the St. Paul AME church, she enjoyed gardening and could grow about anything. In her younger days, turning out home baked goodies for her family was a routine event.Sewing, oil painting, and putting together puzzles were her other hobbies.Bettie was the glue that held the family together. Above all, she was a dedicated loving mother that will be greatly missed by her children. She is survived by four daughters and spouses Anita Strangeway and Ian Strangeway , of Glasgow, Scotland, Sharon Dawn Shelton, of Warren , OH, Annalee Stevens and Kenneth Stevens, of Morgantown, and Donna Rae and Randy , of Elyria, OH, four grandchildren, Jeffrey Scott Stevens, of New Orleans, LA, Bryon Allen Stevens, of Morgantown, Kenneth Dean Stevens, of Morgantown, and Gabrielle Antoinette, of Bowling Green, OH, also surfing are a niece and five nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in August of 1963, which she married in September of 1948, Chester Franklin Pitts, and two sisters, Murial and Dorotha.
