Bruce Bennett Obituary

Bruce Edwin Bennett, 85, of Morgantown, WV, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026. Born on July 2, 1940, in Titusville, Pennsylvania, Bruce lived a full and meaningful life defined by service, family, and connection.

Bruce proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, a role he often said was the best job he ever had.

Following his military service, he formed a construction company known for his attention to detail and is responsible for some unique homes in the Morgantown area. He also enjoyed a long career in the coal mining industry, where he utilized his leadership skills at Preston Energy and RG Johnson Company. There, he helped keep the lights on and, most importantly, ensured men went home safely to their families. He was a man who valued hard work, loyalty, and the relationships he built along the way.

Bruce was a man of many talents and interests, which he explored fully throughout his life. He lived with a sense of adventure, always drawn to the freedom of the skies. He was a skilled skydiver and jump master, piloted small aircraft, and enjoyed hang gliding across the tri-state area—often bringing both excitement and a little anxiety to his family. Later, that love of open space shifted to the open road on his Road King, an experience he gladly shared with anyone willing to climb on and hang on. He could repair and rebuild just about anything, skills he generously passed down to his family.

Above all else, Bruce was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband to Brenda Jo Miller Bennett for 47 years, and a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He found great joy on the golf course, where he spent countless hours and loved teaching his grandchildren the game. He often joked that he was headed for the Senior PGA, a testament to both his love of golf and his enduring drive for excellence. Bruce was known for his humor, storytelling, and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone—he truly never met a stranger.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; his children Cindy (Bob) Bucy, Joseph (Jennifer) Bennett, Erin Saxton, Carrie Davis (Craig Shaffer), Victoria “Tory” Bennett Watring, and Brady Bennett (Jessica Burkett); his cherished grandchildren Willie Bucy, Aydan Bennett, Kylie Bennett, Kayleigh Graskey, Brandy Blosser, Peyton Davis, Reed Davis, Landen Zeigler, and Lyla Bennett; and great-grandchildren Blake Blosser, Cambria Blosser, and Ryleigh Soles.

He is also survived by his brothers Paul Bennett and Daniel (Darcy) Bennett; his sister Kay O’Neil; sisters-in-law LaDonna Hershman, Katherine Miller-Host, and Lisa Bennett; numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved fur baby Kimber; and many close friends and golf buddies who will miss his stories and companionship.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Catherine Bennett; his in-laws, John and Joyce Miller; his brothers Larry, Ronnie, Joseph, and John Bennett; his sisters-in-law Tammy and Jonette Miller; and his beloved fur baby, Daisy.

Bruce will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His family was his world, and the love he gave will continue to live on through them. While our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing he is now at peace, reunited with those who went before him.
