Cleona Wolfe Obituary

Cleona Mae Wolfe, 88, passed peacefully away Saturday, July 23, 2016, in Morgantown, WV. ,break/> She was a resident of the Village at Heritage Point for the last several years where she had many friends. She and her husband enjoyed making friends wherever they were, in their hometown of Newark, Ohio, while living in Montpelier, Vermont and for twenty years living in Indiana, PA. She graduated from Utica High School, in Ohio and was chosen by the Singer Sewing Company to attend a training program in Cleveland. She went on to teach sewing and spent her life sewing, quilting, and making slipcovers for herself and others. Cleona had also became involved with 4-H as a young girl living on her parents' farm, and became a 4-H leader for her daughters' clubs for many years. Cleona tried her hand at many things over her life. She greatly enjoyed cross-country skiing in both Vermont and Pennsylvania. While raising her children, she worked in the cafeteria of her daughters' high school in VT, then at a china gift shop in PA. During her retirement she volunteered in her local hospital, was a part of their TWIG service group, and volunteered at The Dawes Arboretum gift shop in Newark, Ohio. She, and her husband, Thomas, enjoyed traveling to England and Europe a dozen times to visit their daughter, who lives there, and with friends to Nova Scotia, Emerald Isle in the Carolinas, and Florida. Cleona had always been active in the church, singing in choirs, making quilts for those in need, and participating in a Bethlehem Market Place over the Christmas season at her church in Ohio. She has enjoyed her fellowship with the members of the Suncrest United Methodist Church most recently here. She is survived by two daughters Diana Claydon and Sherrie Tuhy, and their husbands, Andrew Claydon and Roy Tuhy granddaughters Sarah Claydon, and her fiancé Cody Childers, Elizabeth Claydon and husband Brian Merry grandsons, John and Patrick Tuhy and great-grandson Nathaniel Merry. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Thomas Wolfe and sisters Isabelle, Oneida, and twin brother Clarence. Friends and Family are invited to share in a memorial celebration service 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Suncrest United Methodist Church with Pastor Tim Halloran as celebrant. A private family interment will be held at a later date in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark, OH. Donations are suggested to go to the Monongalia County 4-H Club c/o WVU Extension Service 34 Commerce Dr. Suite 106, Morgantown, WV 26501. Caring services are provided by Dering-Henson Funeral Home.
