Dan Kirkendall, 83, of Morgantown, WV, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at his home.
He was born April 2, 1940, the son of the late Edward Kirkendall and Wanda Powley Kirkendall. He was a loving husband and father to two children and one grandchild.
Dan spent his younger years working at Morgantown Glass and then became a licensed West Virginia auctioneer. As an auctioneer, he spent Saturday nights entertaining crowds of eager buyers at his Morgantown auction house. His wit and engaging banter kept customers returning. He made the experience a true family affair with his wife, Nancy, selling homemade chili with hot dogs at the concession stand.
Dan is survived by his children, Gary (Susan) Kirkendall and Becky Kirkendall (Lisa); granddaughter, Elaina Kirkendall and many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Dan and Vickie Warner and Mike and Kim Kirkendall for their loving care and support. The family would also like to acknowledge and appreciate the valued relationships that formed with the WVU hospice nurses, the Meals on Wheels volunteers, and the Pisgah United Methodist Church soup ministry team. We also appreciate the generosity and love of the many neighbors and friends who kept his spirit and humor alive until he was called home to be with his devoted wife, Nancy. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Caring cremation services were provided by Dering - Henson Funeral Home.
