Donald Daniel Sargent

Donald Daniel Sargent, 78, of Morgantown WV, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born in Morgantown, April 11, 1939, the son of the late Willard F. Sargent and Helen Josephine Rogers Sargent Tennant. Donald was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Donald raised and supported his family and took pride in their lives and accomplishments. Donald retired from the Morgantown Fire Department as a Captain with over 30 years of service. Donald was also the President of local chapter 313 of the International Association of Fire Fighters during his years of service. Donald was well known for his love of sports. He was a WVU football and basketball fan, and a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In the late eighties he was featured on Washington, DC TV news as the biggest WVU fan. Donald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Charlene Sargent, three children and spouses, Debra Ann Sarandria and Bob Sarandria, Donald Sargent, Jr. and Brenda Sargent, and Daniel E. Sargent, three grandchildren, David Sarandria, Ryan Sargent, and Lauren Sargent, four sisters, Joyce Sargent Harris, Marilyn Tennant Cale, Francis P. Rich, and Cammy Clary, two brothers, Jerry Tennant and Sonny Tennant. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his identical twin brother, Ronald S. Sargent. Friends may call at Dering-Henson Funeral Home Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Craig Falkenstein officiating. Burial will follow in the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
