Joseph Perfetti

Joseph Perfetti, 77, of Morgantown passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016. He was born on November 22, 1938 to Giovanni Perfetti and Silva Sivitilli in Pietracamela, Italy. When he was just a boy, he and his entire extended family emigrated first to Venezuela and then to the United States. Joe spent his adolescent years in Weirton, WV, before graduating with bachelor's and master's degrees from West Virginia University. He went on to a teaching position with the University of Virginia during the 1960's and early 1970's, working specifically with NASA on Wallop's Island, Virginia. Joe returned to Morgantown and had a long career of service to the City, retiring as Director of Public Works in 1998. He was an avid sports fan, master craftsman and jack of all trades, in every sense of the word. He enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, and most importantly, spending time with his family. Joe is survived by his son, John William Perfetti and wife Elisabetta of Santa Monica, CA daughter Deborah Sue Blasher and husband Michael of McMurray, PA son William Brian Perfetti of Los Angeles, CA sister, Mary Patriarca of Weirton, WV and grandchildren Marshall, Viola, and Sofia Perfetti, and Garrett Cole Blasher. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Susan Elaine Black Perfetti. Friends may call Dering-Henson Funeral Home,Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 7 - 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service Thursday, October 13, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brownsville, PA.
