Kenneth Darryl Barnes, 73, of Morgantown, passed peacefully after a brief illness Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Monongalia General Hospital surrounded by his loving daughter, Mary and her family. He was born June 5, 1942 in Salt Lake City, UT, a son of the late Vernile Barnes and Madge Young Barnes. He was retired from the US Navy after 20 years of service to his country. He then went on to work and retire from both the Dominion Post and the Mon County Assessors Office. Ken loved following the Mountaineers as well as watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates games. He had a special place in his heart for any and all dogs but especially was fond of his "girls", Mindy and Lady, who will surely miss him dearly. He is survived by his daughter and spouse, Mary and James Ebbert and his two grandchildren, Ethan Ebbert and Rowan Ebbert, a brother, William "Bill" Barnes, a sister and spouse, Renae and Max Raddon, a mother in law, Mary Emerson, and five children from his previous marriages, Casey, Kelly, Katie, Stacey, and Deborah. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Barnes and step father, Chet Young. The Barnes family would like to thank the staff of Priority Care for the care, love and friendship they showed these last few years after the passing of his wife, Mary Ann.
