Lena Nagy (100 years old) of Fairmont passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24,2025 at Maplewood Retirement Home in Bridgeport, WV. She was born October 18, 1924, the daughter of James and Mary Turney, and the loving, devoted wife of the late Alex Nagy for 64 years.
She grew up in Monongah and prior to her marriage worked at Westinghouse Sealed Beam Plant. She was a member of Diamond Street Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school classes.
She is survived by her sons, Jim and Joe Nagy and daughter Janet Pellerite. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nicole Pellerite Rinehart, Samantha Pellerite Watkins, Lauren Nagy Young, Alexa Nagy, Ali and Tyler Nagy, and great grandchildren Olivia and Christopher Rinehart and Benny and Emmy Watkins.
Lena was the heart and soul of her family and often remarked that taking care of her children and spending time with her grandchildren was the greatest joy of her life. Lena was a wonderful cook and baker and was happy to prepare delicious meals for her family and other relatives. Lena took pride in canning her organic fruits and vegetables and looked forward to canning season each year until her late 80s.
For the past 8 years, Lena was a resident at Maplewood Retirement Home and will be missed. She believed in daily exercise and could often be seen walking around Maplewood or working out on the machines at Physical Therapy.
In keeping with Lena’s wishes she will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date at Tygart Lake State Park where she spent many fun filled summers with her family.
