Mary Alice Emerson

Mary alice Emerson, 87, of Morgantown, died Monday, May 16, 2016 at her home. She was born December 6, 1928 in Monongah, Wv a daughter of the late Clyde and Lillie Mae Wells. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Jo Watson, of New Martinsville, WV , six grandchildren Mary Jo Wade Jason, Jenny Lynn Watson, Mary Susan Ebbert James , John Clyde Emerson, Steven Ray Emerson, and Daniel Emerson, and four great grandchildren Logan Watson, Deona Watson, Ethan Ebbert, and Rowan Ebbert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Emerson, a son, John David Emerson, and daughter, Mary Ann Barnes , two son in laws, Kenneth Barnes and Roy Watson, a sister, Pauline Pritt, five brothers, Joseph E. Wells, Robert R. Wells, Clyde L. Wells, Charles Wells, and Donald E. Wells and an infant grandson, Thomas Wayne Watson. Mary alice was a member of the Morgantown Church of Christ. She taught Sunday School for twenty five years. She enjoyed her time as a Brownie leader in WV and a Cub Scout leader in VA. She was a very good hearted person with a big heart. Some of her joys were spending time outdoors, gardening, reading her bible, watching any Mountaineer sporting event, and loved cats and dogs. Her most treasured was spending time with her grandchildren which she loved dearly. Friends may call Dering-Henson Funeral Home Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 12:00 pm until the 1:00 pm service hour with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover, WV.
