Mary M. Raddish Strakal, 91, of Fontana, CA and formerly of Morgantown, WV and Painesville, OH, passed away peacefully in the early hours of August 13, 2014. She was born November 10, 1922 in Morgantown, WV, a daughter of the late Mike Raddish and Helen Padjen Raddish. Surviving Mary is her daughter and son in law, Linda and Nick Gercis, of Beaumont, CA, two grandchildren and spouse Nicholas E. and Cecillia Gercis, of Corona, Ca and Joseph M. Gercis, of San Bernadino, CA, a great grandson, Nicholas A. Gercis, of Corona, CA, a brother and sister in law, Frank and Anne Raddish, of Apple Valley, CA, two sisters and a brother in law Helen Derrico, of Star City, WV and Julie and Frank Havanas, of Westover, WV, a sister in law, Pat Raddish, of Huntington Beach, CA, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Strakal, four brothers John Raddish, Mike Raddish, Paul Raddish, and George Raddish and two sisters Barbara Keener and Anne Steele. Mary graduated from University High School in Morgantown, WV and was a member of the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. She was also a former member of the Resurrection Catholic Church in Fontana, CA where she was involved with the Alter Rosary Society. Mary enjoyed many things but her family was her greatest joy. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. Friends will be received at Dering-Henson Funeral Home, Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Star City with Fr. John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Burial will follow in the East Oak Grove cemetery. Caring services are provided by Dering-Henson Funeral Home.
