Matilda E. Prete Ferrise

Matilda Elizabeth Prete Ferrise,91, of Star City, died Monday, September 14, 2015 at Mapleshire Nursing Center, surounded by her loving daughter and family. She was born in Morgantown, December 16, 1923 a daughter of the late Salvatore Prete and Sarah Belcastro Prete. She was a 1942 graduate of Morgantown High school and a member of the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. Matilda retired from Davis and Lynch Glass after thirty four years. She was a lifelong resident of Morgantown and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She leaves behind her daughter and spouse, Samuella "Sammie" Pride and Robert Pride, of Morgantown, two grandchildren, Marsha Ann Pride, of Morgantown and Robert Ian Pride, of Morgantown, great grandchild, Eric Bethea , a sister, Virginia Straface, of Morgantown, a brother and spouse, James "Jim" Prete and Doris Prete, of Morgantown, several nieces and nephews as well as three sisters in law, Julia Monell, of Fairmont, Liz Dayton, of Granville, and Lena Dorinzi, of Morgantown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Ferrise, on November 13, 1972, two brothers, Phillip Prete and Lou Prete, and two sisters, Mary Hintz and Giovana Prudnick, three brothers in law, John Straface, Don Hintz, and Paul Prudnick, and a sisters in law, Betty Prete and Rose Walker Friends will be received from 3-8 pm, Thursday September 17, 2015 at the Dering -Henson Funeral Home Chapel and Friday, September 18, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. celebration of life and mass of christian burial at the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Star City with Fr. John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Burial will follow in the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
