Peggy R. Bonner, 92, of Morgantown, peacefully passed away on July 5, 2024, at Sundale Nursing Home, where she had resided for the past 5 years.
Peggy was born in Grafton, WV, on December 25, 1931, a daughter of the late Floran and Audrey (Phillips) Felton.
She was a graduate of the University High School Class of 1949 and was a member of the band. Peggy attended many class reunions and served on the reunion committee. She was a life member of the Mon Health Auxiliary and served for 6 years on the auxiliary board.
Peggy was a member of Highland Park Methodist Church and active in the Ladies of Highland Park Church. She helped to organize their spring and Christmas bazaars. For the Christmas bazaar, which was known for its hard tack and peanut butter crunch candies, Peggy looked forward to Tuesday morning candy making.
Peggy was last employed at Dering Funeral Home from 1985-2008.
She was the last surviving sibling in her family. Peggy is survived by her nieces Diane Taylor (Daniel), of Morgantown, WV, Barbie Johnson (Chris), of Brunswick, GA, and Linda Sue Brown, of Core, WV, and nephew, David Claudio (Robin), of Fairhope, AL. She is also survived by a special cousin, Luann Raddish (Dave), of Fairmont, WV, as well as several other nieces and a nephew.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Bobby W. Bonner, in 1989. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Betty Cumpston, Emma Lou Claudio, Charlotte Quinn, and her brothers, Ed, George, and John Felton and a special friend she thought of as a son, Frank Matthews.
Friends will be received at Dering-Henson Funeral Home on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the service at noon, with Rev. Charles May presiding. Private family burial will be held at Beverly Hills Memorial Garden.
Special thanks to the Sundale Nursing Home staff, especially Joan, Caitlyn, Karen, Sue, and Billie Jo, who provided excellent care for Peggy.
