Robert Bob Edward Haden, 80 of Morgantown, WV passed away on Friday August 24th at his home. Born in Morgantown on July 5th, 1938, Bob was the son of the late Charles H. Haden and Beatrice Costolo Haden. He was also pre-deceased by his brother, former United States Federal Court Judge, The Honorable Charles H. Haden, II. Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly Dippel Haden; and daughters Rebecca John Wimer of Pittsburgh, PA , Leigh Ann Todd Fulks of Bridgeport, WV, Deborah Michael Scott of Charlotte, NC and Rachel Steven Pangalos of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Joseph Lyndsay Wimer of Wichita, Kansas, Anna Evan Schell of Pittsburgh, PA, Daniel Wimer of Charlotte, NC, Michael Wimer of Pittsburgh, PA, Haden R. Kersting of Columbus, OH, Matthew Kersting, Bradley Kersting of Morgantown WV, Benjamin Scott, Meredith Scott, Lucas Pangalos & Haden C. Pangalos of Charlotte, NC; his brother Thomas Linda Haden of Southport, NC and sister-in-law, Priscilla Haden of Charleston, WV. Bob was a 1956 graduate of Morgantown High School. In 2008 he was honored for his high school athletic career as a member of the 2nd class of athletes inducted into the MHS Athletic Hall of Fame. Bob graduated in 1960 from West Virginia University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with Beta Gamma Sigma distinction, and then graduated in 1964 with a juris doctorate degree from West Virginia University College of Law. He was a Dean's Partner member at the law school, as well as a member of the Irvin Stewart Society at WVU. In addition, he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. After serving our country for two years in the United States Army, he then spent six years in the Reserves. After graduation from law school, Bob joined the law firm of Steptoe & Johnson in Clarksburg, WV practicing law for 17 years and serving on the Executive Committee as a managing partner. At Steptoe & Johnson his areas of specialty included tax and estate planning and business formations law. Bob left Steptoe & Johnson in 1981 returning to Morgantown to join William and Ruth Dippel and Frank Dippel as a partner in the family businesses Dippel & Dippel Coal, Kopper-Glo Fuel and Romisch Manufacturing. Because of his love of WVU and his law career, Bob recently created the Robert E. Haden Family Law Scholarship given in memory of his father Charles H. Haden and his brother Judge Charles H. Haden II, and in honor of his former employer Steptoe and Johnson. Small town living included religious and civic activities such as serving on boards of directors at Suncrest United Methodist Church, Huntington Bank, Mon General Hospital, Morgantown Utility Board and many others. Attending Mountaineer football and basketball games were favorite pastimes and he could often be heard repeating Tony Caridi's well-known quote, "It's a great day to be a Mountaineer wherever you may be!" Above everything else in life, Bob cherished time spent with family and friends. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, August 29th from 1-3pm and 5-8pm at Dering-Henson Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, August 30th at 11:00 am at Suncrest United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Robert E. Haden Family Law Scholarship in c/o WVU Foundation, P.O. Box 1650, Morgantown, WV 26507.

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Suncrest United Methodist Church
