Robert Vytautas Rockis, 82, of Morgantown, died Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Sundale Nursing Home. He was born March 5, 1935 in Morgantown, a son of the late John Rockis Sr. and Anna Klimaitis Rockis. He graduated Morgantown High School in 1954. While at MHS, he was a standout in football , earning him the nickname, Mr. Touchdown and played all four years and was also captain of the team. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he graduated from the US Naval Corps School in 1956 and served during the Korean Conflict. He later met, on a blind date, the love of his life and knew immediately, JoAnn Keener was the one. They married in March of 1963 and started their fifty three year life together. Robert worked for Seneca Glass Factory for twenty two years, until their closing. He then started his career with WVU Dining services where he worked until his retirement in March 2017. During his working career, he also worked for his brother in law at Pizza Den and later opened his own business, Marianna's Pizza in Masontown, WV. Many people knew him as Bob, Uncle Bob, or Mr. Pizza. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather Pap and loved taking long Sunday drives with his family, usually to Ohio or Thomas, WV, and also liked fishing. To his family he was superman and seemed to defy science in so many ways. He is survived by a son, Robert Rockis II, of Morgantown, two daughters and spouses Marianna Mott and Grant Mott of Haymarket, VA and Bobbie Jo Perdue and Kevin Perdue, of Morgantown, four grandchildren Brandon Lee Rockis, Brandy Lynn Lacey, Tiffany JoAnna Mott, and Theo Mott Jr., a great grandson, Jonas Rockis, Blankenship, a god daughter, Roseann Blake, a sister in law, Victoria Rockis, several nieces and nephews, and many of the Keener family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, JoAnn Keener Rockis in August of 2016, three brothers and two sisters in law, Joe Rockis and Nina Rockis, John Rockis and Bonnie Rockis, and Ed Rockis, three sisters and two brothers in law, Janet Nemeth and Joe Nemeth, Helen Luckini and Marvin Luckini and Susie Rockis. Friends may call Dering-Henson Funeral Home from 5-7pm Sunday, June 4, 2017. Funeral services will be Monday, June 5, 2017 at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel.
